Most students feel overwhelmed at the thought of drawing the whole world, by hand, from memory.
However, with this course, anyone can do it!
Let me show you how!
Why Take this Course?
For far less than the cost of a private tutor, you can have someone show your student, step by step, at their own pace, how to draw each region of the world.
Learn independently with videos, PDF documents, or printable instructions, freeing up more of mom and dad’s time.
No More Tears
Leave behind anxiety about how big this task is as I lead you through step by step, with instructions for daily work, one region at a time.
Connections through Geography
Learn world geography, which will make all the other subjects come to life as you visualize a map for locations mentioned in the rest of school and life.
Reusable with Younger Children
Have lifetime access to this course on the Teachable platform to use as many times as you’d like with all the students in your single-family household.
Get started right away- All regions are available now!
Seamlessly Connect All Regions
Connect each region into one worldwide map with clear step-by-step instructions.
Narrated Step-by-step Videos
Students are able to watch Julie draw, using the step-by-step instructions while they listen to explanations of each step.
Easily Put all the Pieces Together
At the end, I show you how to put the pieces we've learned together on one seamless world map!
In each module, you'll have access to printable PDFs that show you the exact steps we use in the videos. This allows you to follow along on paper or use the step-by-step guides when you're away from the computer.
Each section of the world includes a variety of printable color and black/white maps, detailed and simplified maps, labeled and blank maps
iPad friendly PDF
Downloadable PDF files formatted to look great on an iPad shaped screen. These are ideal if you don't want to print the step-by-step files, but still want to be able to use them offline.
Loads of Bonuses
You'll also find tips on what tools, and supplies you might want, what other resources make the course more fun, how to schedule your year, and how to go about grading (or not grading) Cartography.
Here are three clips from the course to help you get a feel for how I teach!
Why Cartography for Geography?
Why Learn Geography?
The more geography you know, the better you'll understand other cultures, society as a whole, current events, and the history of the world.
Why Use Cartography?
Drawing maps (aka Cartography) is such a great way to learn geography. It combines visual and kinesthetic activities while helping a student notice details. You don’t have to produce a beautiful map in order to learn the shapes of places or their names. The goal is just to learn!
Who Is Julie Abels?
I’m a Christian, a wife, and a homeschooling mom of two boys, nicknamed Alpha and Gunner. We live in Tucson, AZ on 3.3 acres that we call the Ridge Light Ranch. I love to draw, paint, and create digital files and templates.
We started homeschooling in 2012 and joined the Classical Conversations family in 2013. When my oldest son was in 7th grade (Challange A), we drew the whole world together! To make it easier, I created simpler maps for him to draw from and step-by-step instructions to help him see what basic shapes to draw first.
Soon I converted the paper step-by-step instructions to videos and now I’m sharing them with you and your family to make learning geography easier and more fun.

What age is this course designed for?
I designed this course for 7th graders, but I believe anyone in 4th grade or older could use it productively. Older students will probably be able to memorize more content, but younger students can still find value in it. Adults will find it works just as well for them too!
Are there any prerequisites for this course?
No! You don't need any drawing experience or prior geographic knowledge. Of course, if you do have previous knowledge, it will be all the easier for you.
What's your return policy?
I offer a 30-day 100% money-back guarantee. While I would really appreciate hearing any feedback you can give me, you don't need to provide a reason for why you'd like a refund.
Will this work for my CC Ch A student?
Yes! (My youngest will be in Ch. A this fall as well!) The course is similar to the Ch A sequence. The main differences are:
- We break Asia into two sections, while CC leaves it in one large section
- We break Australia and Antarctica into separate sections while CC combines them
I offer a schedule with a few more tweaks to it for students who are not in a Classical Conversations (CC) Challenge class, but students who are in a CC class will probably prefer to stick with what the guide/Director tells them to do.
